Britský šéf zpravodajských služeb MacGillivray má potíže s nalezením vycvičeného agenta v tak krátké době, a proto naverbuje doktora Jasona Lova, který pro něj ve druhé světové válce dělal nějakou zpravodajskou práci, aby zjistil, co se děje. Doktor Love tam jede jako účastník lékařského sjezdu, aby nevzbudil podezření. Love se zastaví v Římě, kde se setká se svým kontaktem, modelkou jménem Vikki. V Římě Love zmešká letadlo do Bejrútu. Když sleduje, jak odlétá bez něj, letadlo ve vzduchu exploduje. Následně už Love přijíždí do Bejrútu, kde se setkává s agentem Parkingtonem. Společně objeví komunistické spiknutí s cílem zavraždit probritského prince ze Zahloufu, což ohrožuje britské zájmy v ropném průmyslu.".
